New Release with Subdevice and Invite User

The new version 14 of UBIQUITY is the first that does not include the Control Center desktop application, which will remain usable with version 13.6 until the beginning of 2025 to allow everyone a smooth migration to using the web version called UBIQUITY Manager.

Also in early 2025, devices with Runtime older than 3 will no longer be allowed to connect to our servers. This decision was necessary to ensure the maximum security of our platform since the security protocols used in Runtime versions below 3 have become insecure, risking the protection of the domain to which they are connected. The Control Center desktop application will display a popup message alerting you to the presence of devices with Runtime that need to be updated, while UBIQUITY Manager will display a warning icon in folders containing outdated Runtime that need to be updated.

Below is a brief summary of the major new features and improvements in this release.

Sub-devices: The sub-devices present on the automation subnet, such as PLCs, drives, iPCS, and so on, and the services they provide, such as HTTP, RDP, VNC, SSH, can be created as child nodes of a domain device. In this way, a user can quickly access the services exposed by a sub-device with a single click: the VPN with the remote device is automatically established and the appropriate application (web browser, RDP client, etc.) is opened based on the IP address of the sub-device.

Invite User: It is now possible to invite a domain user to access a device by giving them temporary access rights, i.e. setting an expiration date and time. This allows OEMs and system integrators to give other users temporary access to the device they are working on, or end users to easily manage vendor access to their machines in a timely manner.

User Interface Updates and Improvements: The context menu for devices has been improved by organizing functions by topic, and the search function has been improved to search for device properties and names, including license activation codes.

Adoption of .NET8: The UBIQUITY Manager Tools and the UBIQUITY Runtime have been upgraded to the .NET8 framework, providing improvements in performance, stability and security.
