Augmented Reality app setup and overview
You can download the Augmented Reality app called UBIQUITY AR from Google Play or the Apple App Store.
- Once you have downloaded the app on your smartphone, check for the ID and password of the remote device that you wish to access remotely.
- Connect to the remote device through the Augmented Reality app from your smartphone by accessing UBIQUITY Manager and selecting .
- Once the connection between the Augmented Reality app and the remote device is established, you and the operator on site can select any of the icons showing up on a task bar at the top of the screen, both on the phone and on the Remote Desktop. The icons allow to carry out the following tasks:
- Use the camera to capture the scene on-site.
- Add an object to the scene.
- Enable the chat.
- Take screenshots.
- Enable 2D mode and use drawing tools.
VoIP Call
Once a connection is established, you can start a VoIP call by tapping the microphone icon showing up at the top of both the computer screen and the screen of the mobile while using the app.
Device Registration
The device using the Augmented Reality app shall be registered following the same procedure performed for Runtime.
Add an Object to the Scene
When the scene is captured, it is possible to insert indicators in the form of arrows. Object remain steady in their position, even if you move the camera.
You can only insert objects to the scene if the device correctly detects anchor surfaces. If this is not possible, a warning message will appear on the screen.
Indicators can be entered either through the mobile device or through UBIQUITY Manager. If you wish to add indicators using a mobile device, tap the spots on the screen as needed. If you wish to add indicators using the UBIQUITY Manager for the same purpose, move the mouse pointer and click in the desired spots.
2D Mode
In the top left menu click on the brush icon to enable and disable the 2D drawing mode. Once enabled, it allows to capture a scene frame on which you can add indicators, draw freehand lines or add text. To return to a real-time capture of the scene, click on the brush icon again to disable 2D mode.
Settings
The Settings pane allows to adjust the scale to improve or reduce the quality and size of the images that the Augmented Reality app sends to the UBIQUITY Manager.
