Device setup
The Device setup Tool allows you to discover and configure devices on a local network.
Note: In certain scenarios, the utilization of this Tool may be necessitated for the device registration to a domain. Furthermore, its behavior might differ depending on the device type and firmware version.
Router RK1x/RM1x/GR1x featuring any firmware version
- Access UBIQUITY Manager and select .
- On the Device setup dialog window, select the first option: RK1x/RM1x/GR1x featuring any firmware version or RK2x/RM2x/DM2x featuring a firmware version older than or equal to 3.0.15.15.
Note: A dialog window may appear asking for permission to open the Tool. Prior to confirming, you can check Always allow to prevent this message from prompting again during this session. If you use a different computer or a different browser, this message will prompt again.The dialog window allows to register and configure the device in two ways: via Local Area Network, by using an Ethernet connection to the device and selecting Local Area Network or via USB, by using a USB memory stick and selecting USB. Proceed with the registration, based on the configuration method that you prefer:
- via Local Area Network
- Select Local Area Network.
- Enter default login credentials, then click Discover.
Note: The default username is admin, and the default password is admin.
- The Routers found list shows all the devices that have a password matching with the one provided, and they are identified through the Ethernet interfaces MAC addresses. Select from the list the device that you want to register and configure, then click Configure.
- Configuration settings are split by categories. Expand each category and configure as needed.
- Access the Domain Registration section to register your device to domain and check Create and register … specifying a name for the router and defining its the initial location in the Domain tree.
Note: You can change your router name at any time later.Note: You will be required to log in to the UBIQUITY domain to access the Domain tree.
- Select Apply at the bottom of the screen to complete your router registration and configuration. A message will confirm the operation result.
- via USB
- Select USB.
- Enter default login credentials, then click Next.
Note: The default username is admin, and the default password is admin.

- Select Apply at the bottom of the screen to complete your router registration and configuration. A message will confirm the operation result.
- A new dialog window appears and prompts you to browse to the
UbiquityRouterConfig.xml
router configuration file.A message will confirm the operation result.
- Copy the file to a USB memory stick and plug this latter into the router.
- The router detects the file on the USB memory stick and applies the configuration.
- via Local Area Network
Router RK2x/RM2x/DM2x featuring a firmware version newer than 3.0.15.15
- Access UBIQUITY Manager and select .
- On the Device setup dialog window, select the third option: RK2x/RM2x/DM2x featuring a firmware version newer than 3.0.15.15 or other devices.
Note: A pop-up message may appear asking for permission to open the Tool. Prior to confirming, you can check Always allow to prevent this message from prompting again during this session. If you use a different computer or a different browser, this message will prompt again.
- A discovery window appears. Select Discover to list all the devices on the local network that are in an Unconfigured state (factory default setting) or that were already configured.
The Discovered devices list displays the Model, Serial Number, Eth2:WAN IP address, Eth1:LAN IP address and Status of each device.
- If you select the row of a device in an Unconfigured state, you can then open System Manager by selecting Device Setup or set the IP address of a LAN interface, and restart.
If you select the row of a device in a Configured state, you can just open System Manager by selecting Device Setup.
OptixPanel™ featuring a firmware version 4.0.4 or newer
- Access UBIQUITY Manager and select .
- On the Device setup dialog window, select the third option: OptixPanel featuring a firmware version 4.0.4 or newer.
Note: A pop-up message may appear asking for permission to open the Tool. Prior to confirming, you can check Always allow to prevent this message from prompting again during this session. If you use a different computer or a different browser, this message will prompt again.
- A discovery window appears. Select Discover to list all the devices on the local network that are in an Unconfigured state (factory default setting) or that were already configured.
